POWER REQUIREMENTS
Your diffuser just needs a standard 120V outlet, an electrician can tie into the furnaces power.
- Most rooftop MUA units already have a convenience outlet inside the service compartment for techs to plug tools into. If that’s present and on the same circuit, you’re set.
- If not, have an electrician pull a dedicated 120V GFCI-protected receptacle in the unit’s service area (cleaner, safer, and code-compliant).
TYING INTO THE SUPPLY DUCT
Where to place your diffuser.
- The diffuser should inject fragrance in the furnaces air supply duct or downstream of the MUA’s filters, coils, and fans.
- Best spot: just inside the main supply plenum before the vertical shaft drops down the risers.
- Most units have a clean panel or duct access where you can mount your diffuser’s injection nozzle/tube.
- System fan should always be on, or system on a fan interlock.
- Use a 3/4 Liquid Tight Connector with tubing that pokes into the supply airstream. That way tube is air tight and secure. Avoid kinks in the provided tube and don’t use longer lengths then provided it atomizes into the airflow instead of pooling and causing build up in the tube.
BEST PRACTICE INSTALL
- 1. Mount diffuser unit in proximity to furnace supply air or rooftop MUA service bay (near supply plenum).
- 2. Provide 120V outlet / GFCI if none is present.
- 3. Run diffuser nozzle into supply duct downstream of filters/fan.
- 4. Add a fan interlock so diffuser only runs when supply air fan is operating. (IF NO INTERLOCK FAN MUST ALWAYS BE SET TO ALWAYS ON*)
- 5. Set fragrance at ultra-low ppm for a trial run. Let the property manager approve before ramping.
- 6. Do not have kinks or sharp bends in tube going into duct. Use provided tube length or less but not more.
MAKE-UP AIR UNITS
APARTMENTS & MULTI-FAMILY COMMERCIAL BUILDING INSTALLS
MUA (MAKE-UP AIR) ROOFTOP & GROUND LEVEL
Most apartment and multi-family buildings rely on a Make-Up Air Unit (MUA) to ventilate common areas such as corridors, lobbies, and stairwells. An MUA continuously draws in fresh outside air, filters and conditions it, then distributes it through supply ducts to maintain indoor air quality and proper building pressurization. By balancing the air removed by suite and common exhaust fans, the MUA helps ensure comfort, safety, and healthier living spaces throughout the building.
RECCOMENDED DIFFUSER SYSTEM
Rooftop MUA - Install unit at the supply duct after the filter, coil, and fan.
Ground Level MUA - Install unit at the supply duct after the filter, coil, and fan.
